The president of the Defense Forum Foundation Suzanne Scholte, who has been working to publicize North Korea human rights issues internationally for more than a decade, has been selected as the winner of the Seoul Peace Prize for this year.

The Seoul Peace Prize Cultural Foundation held the final screening committee meeting on September 3 at the Korea Press Center and subsequently announced Suzanne Scholte as the 9th Seoul Peace Prize laureate.

President Lee Chul Seung of the Seoul Peace Prize Committee revealed that the selection committee decided to give the award to Ms. Scholte after a rigorous and careful screening process.

Note to Nobel Committee, this is promoting peace.

It has been suggested that the relatives of Won Jong Hwa, who worked as a spy for seven years, will be retaliated against.

Kim Byung Cheol (pseudonym), who has worked for a liaison office under the Operations Department of the Party, foresaw that “Won Jung Hwa will be branded as an ‘enemy of the proletariat class of the Republic (North Korea),’ and her family will be sent to a political prison camp.”

Mr. Kim said that from the view of North Korea she is a traitor and an enemy of the Republic. This is due to the fact that she did not successfully conduct her duties, which were to assassinate South Korean intelligence agents and certain defectors with poison and poison stings two years ago. Additionally, she did not commit suicide when she was caught.

Mr. Kim explained that “In North Korean liaison offices, where they teach agents who are to be sent to South Korea as spies, they are taught to commit suicide on the spot if they are caught.
