“Crossing Heaven’s Border” tonight on PBS

I’ve been getting information from PBS’s Wide Angle series. And tonight they will broadcast “Crossing Heaven’s Border” A summary,

In the past decade, up to 100,000 defectors have crossed the waters of the Tumen and Yalu Rivers into northeast China to escape from North Korea, the world’s last closed Communist state. In Crossing Heaven’s Border, WIDE ANGLE tells the moving and dramatic stories of a few of them.

Crossing Heaven’s Border reveals the plight of North Korean defectors from the point of view of intrepid South Korean journalists who risk their lives filming undercover for ten months to capture the haunting stories first-hand. The reporters introduce us to a mother working in China as a tour guide to support her six-year-old son who is sick with cerebral palsy and in dire need of medical attention. And we follow the grueling ten-day journey of a teenage girl and a little boy smuggled overland across China and Laos into Thailand, where North Korean defectors can request asylum at the South Korean embassy.

It is on PBS on 10PM EST. Don’t miss it.

Just more “master race” non-sense the North Koreans are feeding to their people. This does, however, confirm that North Korea is a big player in the animation industry.

This was made by UMDLiNK last year. It goes around the campus asking people what they know about North Korean Human Rights. Just like those Jaywalking bits on Leno, they didn’t know much. Worse, it makes me wonder if there is way too many people in college. Also, please ignore the comment section. If there is anything worse than the Digg mob, it is the Youtube mob.

(Via. USINKOREA) Another LiNK video, probably made two months ago. In my opinion, whenever I think of North Korea, I hear the sound of silence. The imagery of Pyongyang is typically empty streets and dark nights. So if I were making a clip, I would have no background music.

This is the biggest celebrity endorsement of our cause we are going to get

Noel Paul Stookey of Peter, Paul & Mary has written a protest song about a Japanese schoolgirl abducted by North Korean agents in 1977.

Stookey, 69, sang ‘Song for Megumi’ _ the title track of his new album _ at a performance Tuesday attended by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Megumi Yokota’s parents, Shigeru and Sakie Yokota.

Some of the lyrics are in Japanese. ‘Anata wa doko? (Where are you?),’ Stookey sang at the performance, televised by public broadcaster NHK.

Here’s the segment
