There is a South Korean government operated program called “Setomin” that is especially formed to help North Korean refugees in S.Korea.
You may want to contact “Unification Department” for their contact info and how to join to help them.

There are many churches in S. Korea that are involved in helping North Korean refugees. You may also want to search one of them and ask. (eg: Full Gospel Church…)

It pretty much worked out exactly as I thought it would back in March. North Korea held them a bit longer than I had thought though.

Staying at a nice guest house is hardly hardship though.

They sure make Americans seem rather foolish for jumping around at the border of rather paranoid nation. International border, what’s that?

North Korean men WANT to work in these camps. It’s by far the best opportunity for regular people to make “large” amounts of foreign currency. Apparently the jobs are very sought after. Check Andrej Lankov’s blog – he’s covering this in detail.
